TWO EQUINE EXPERTS ENDORSE THE "SENSATION RIDE" |
||
|
The following is an endorsement for the Sensation by a chiropractic veterinarian and endurance rider. Dr. Gail Jewell has been in practice for 20 years. Her particular focus is on sports medicine, rehabilitation, and equine chiropractic. She has competed in combined training and endurance for 30 years, and has participated as a vet at international endurance competitions.
Are You in the Market for a New Saddle? By Dr. Gail Jewell
Distance and recreational riders owe it to their horses and themselves to try the "Sensation Ride" made by Nickers Saddlery of Penticton, BC, Canada. After riding many miles and just assuming pain was part of the process, I took a Sensation for a ride. I was nothing short of astonished at the difference it made in the level of increased comfort for my horse and my body. I rode 3 hours with no discomfort for the first time in my life! I then asked a friend to ride in it. She is an excellent rider and horsewoman, but has been forced into a chair-seat position in a saddle she has outgrown. Her posture and seat were instantly near perfect in the Sensation. The best way to describe the Sensation is to think of it as a true interface between your bum and the horse's back. Both sides of this interface are taken into consideration in the design and function of this product. The result is a happy bum on a happy back! As an equine vet and chiropractor, I am very impressed with the performance of the Sensation. I am recom-mending it to my clients, especially those struggling with back-sore horses. I discovered that the design of the Sensation allows it to be used on a range of horse back sizes and shapes. I am able to use it on all three of the horses I ride with only minor adjustments. Treeless technology may not be for every horse and rider. However, the revolutionary design features, quality of workmanship, and suitability for the sport of long distance-riding in particular, make it a must to consider.
I cannot encourage riders enough to try the Sensation! Remember - before you shop for a saddle, make sure your horse's back is sound and healthy! |
Excerpts from an article on Sensation Treeless saddles by an author well-known for her expertise on equine training, who lives on a 100+ horse farm in Vernon, BC, Canada.
A Versatile Saddle Option By Christine Schwartz
... So what's in the tackroom, and in constant use?The Sensation Treeless saddle made by Nickers Saddlery. Keep reading even if you are not a fan of treeless saddles because this one is different.
We have tried 9 or 10 different brands of treeless saddles and had complaints about all of them. Some had no gullet, some placed the rider in an irreparable chair seat, some were far too expensive, too wide across the twist, and another required acrobatic balance skills to keep it from sliding.
At riding clinics at Robyn's farm (Vernon) it became an art to find the right saddle for this horse and that rider. Not one saddle was liked by everybody until we came across a very smart woman, an endurance rider who had been making and selling saddles for over 10 years - after she had a tack shop and was getting very frustrated with the poor choices that were out there ...
Dana Johnsen of Penticton BC, Canada knows a thing or two about horses and tack, and will listen to her 2 and 4 legged customers.
The Sensation saddle she designed started as a bare-back pad, but grew into an excellent support system for horses and riders. A plastic form, called the Butterfly, across the withers gives the pad shape, keeps it off the horse's withers, and makes the rider feel deep in the saddle and well balanced.
A common complaint about treeless saddles is that when the rider puts a lot of weight into the stirrups, all the pressure is placed over a small portion of the horse's back. Dana solved this problem with a unique stirrup set-up where the leathers are velcroed over the back AND attach to the bottom flap of the saddle, which distributes the rider's weight over the entire saddle.
We have been using the Sensation saddles for 4 years now, and it has been the first saddle that everybody likes and the horses LOVE ... Horses(that are usually used to a treed saddle) will immediately go freer, move their back more, and often end up with much bigger movement as the tree is not restricting them.
